Pennsylvania Shoreline Reclaimed in 6 Weeks with Rosetta’s Grand Ledge
Project Name: Prominent Peninsula Manufacturer: R.I. Lampus Company Landscape Designer: Flock Services and R.I. Lampus Contractor: Flock Services Owner: Residential Location: Treasure Lake, PA Year Built: 2025
“It [Grand Ledge] has been a winner since day one. It grew so quickly in popularity. I think from the ease of having the one-foot-tall units, three, four, five, and six feet long. From an easy installation and efficiency standpoint, the contractors took to it immediately.”

The Challenge: A Failing Shoreline Meets a Rare Opportunity

A failing wooden pylon retaining wall had become an eyesore and a hazard for a Treasure Lake, Pennsylvania, lakeside home. For the first time in a quarter-century, the man-made lake was drained, presenting an opportunity to remove the failing seawall and replace it with a major upgrade, without actually having to work around or in water. With a design for Rosetta Hardscape's Grand Ledge retaining walls, the homeowners tasked local contractor Flock Services with constructing their new lakeside landscape. But first–they’d need to tackle the site’s aging timber walls.
In the video above, Andrew Kufin, Contractor Development Specialist with Rosetta Hardscapes producer R.I. Lampus Company, and Andrew Flock of Flock Services, the site’s landscape contractor, take you through this impressive lakeside build that had to be completed before water was re-released into Treasure Lake, a particularly daunting timeline.
The Solution: Timber out, Precast in

As soon as the lake waters were drawn down, Flock Services began work. The first task was to demolish the buckling timber walls to begin preparations for the site’s two Rosetta Grand Ledge gravity walls. Designed to rely on the mass of each block, the Grand Ledge system creates a stable, dependable seawall without complex reinforcement. A nonwoven fabric was selected to encapsulate the base materials, helping maintain long-term performance beneath the surface. To further protect the shoreline against wave action, riprap will be added along the wall's face, providing an extra layer of defense.
Completed in just 6 weeks, this Treasure Lake project features:
- Custom Grand Ledge columns with integrated low-voltage lighting and electrical hookups
- A driveway and parking area Grand Ledge retaining wall
- Grand Ledge gravity seawall with rip-rap yet to be added for enhanced protection against wave action
- Custom-cut 6 ft (1.8 m) Dimensional Steps lead down to the lakeshore
- All Rosetta solutions were precast in the “Mountain Rustic” regional color palette offered by R.I. Lampus
- A grand total of 1827.5 sq ft (169.78 sq m) of Grand Ledge wall block was installed
Additionally, the project achieves an authentic natural-stone look with retaining walls and columns that do not use real natural stone. Because of Grand Ledge’s consistent block dimensions, alterations and on-site cutting were drastically reduced. While some cutting was required, especially for a custom fit needed for the step units, it was far less than what a natural stone product would demand. Grand Ledge’s machine-set installation process also sped things up, and with the clock ticking to install the project before the lake was refilled, these were efficiencies that simply couldn’t be achieved with an alternative solution.
By recognizing it was time for an upgrade, the Treasure Lake homeowners transformed their shoreline from a timber tragedy to a precast prize. With the collaborative design and installation expertise of Pennsylvania landscape contractor Flock Services and Rosetta producer R.I. Lampus, a beautifully built lakeside space was created, ready to be enjoyed for years to come.
