The Challenge: Dream Home, Drab Landscaping

Welcome to Treasure Lake, a private lakefront development in DuBois, PA. Nestled in the woods and surrounded by three man-made lakes, this community is truly a treasure. But treasures often come with hidden surprises, and when the Kazmareks found their dream home, it, unfortunately, came with a few not-so-dreamy landscaping features.

A failing boulder wall outlined their shore, and decades-old decking posed a serious safety risk. With the desire to properly enjoy their hard-earned waterfront and make it a safe, functional space, the homeowners turned to local Rosetta Hardscapes producer R.I. Lampus to help them find shoreline solutions that would:

  • Protect against future shoreline erosion
  • Withstand Pennsylvania’s unpredictable freeze-thaw cycles
  • Provide a rustic facade and maintain a consistent natural stone look

The Solution: A Hardscape Treasure, Found

When Treasure Lake was drained for the first time in over a quarter century, the homeowners had the perfect opportunity to get their Rosetta Hardscapes retaining wall and steps installed. With contractor Flock Services leading the installation, the finished project featured:

  • 700 sq ft (65 sq m) of precast Outcropping retaining wall crafted with a regional color palette, characteristic of PA’s natural landscapes
  • 12 ft (3.6 m) wide Dimensional Step stairway leading into the water, which also serves as a retaining wall
  • A custom boat dock integrated into the step design

The Kazmaraks didn’t just restore their shoreline; they reimagined it as a lasting part of the place they love most. With Rosetta Hardscapes solutions designed and installed by trusted local Pennsylvania experts, they created a space that’s not only safer and stronger, but also deeply personal.

It’s a place built to welcome grandkids, host sunset dinners, and anchor a well-earned retirement—season after season, year after year.

“We looked at a bunch of products, but what we really wanted was something that looked natural, looked like it came from this area. We also wanted it to be man-made, really to stop erosion and last.” -David Kazmarek, Homeowner
