Building a Better Welcome for Truth in Nature with Rosetta Hardscapes in Georgia

In Rockmart, Georgia, an outdoor ministry mentors fatherless boys through faith and the great outdoors. Truth in Nature provides free monthly programs with events rooted in the field, on the water, or on the range, helping participants learn lifelong skills and build appreciation for the outdoors. The organization faced a big problem, though – getting kids past the front gate.

The old, rickety cattle gate needed to go. Its rough, unwelcoming appearance hindered participants from truly experiencing the program's vision, so Truth in Nature brought their need to Take it Outside, a local non-profit that selects various community projects each year to coordinate and complete. With Take it Outside coordinating logistics, including a donation of Old Mission Pavers from Georgia Rosetta Hardscapes producer Piedmont Precast, for the front entrance area, the new look would provide a sense of professionalism and comfort to participants and their mothers, as well as a long-term solution.

THE CHALLENGE

For Zach Coward, the COO of FiveTraks, umbrella company of Take it Outside, the heat was on. He needed to coordinate Take it Outside partners to acquire the project’s necessary materials and labor. After securing hardscape donations from Piedmont Precast and volunteer labor from Maxwell Landscape Construction, the project was completed in just 5 days, minimizing disruption to the program's only driveway.

THE SOLUTION

Selecting the hardscape elements to use for the entryway was an integral part of the project's vision. Working with Piedmont Precast and Take it Outside, Brandon Laughridge of Maxwell Construction looked at a few different options, but ultimately selected a blend of Rosetta’s Old Mission Pavers and Redi-Rock’s Freestanding Blocks.

“Piedmont encouraged us to use the two products [Redi-Rock Freestanding and Rosetta Hardscapes Old Mission Pavers] together for simplicity and speed for installation, and that’s what we were looking for. The freestanding columns and walls were installed first, then the pavers and plantings. The entrance gate was placed behind the freestanding columns rather than bolted to them to allow full gate functionality.

Zach at FiveTraks coordinated the project’s stakeholders, secured donations, and ensured strong communication throughout each stage.

In a video created by Take it Outside, many of the project’s stakeholders are featured, and Truth in Nature Executive Director Jeff Davis shares, “First impressions are everything. So when a new boy, a new mom, a new mentor comes into our program, they come through these gates, and it automatically gives them that feeling of comfort.”

THE OUTCOME

The Truth in Nature project is a showcase of what happens when strong local partners come together to donate their time and resources to do something great for their community. Now complete, it features:

• Paver Driveway featuring 1500 sq ft (139 sq m) of Rosetta’s permeable Old Mission Pavers in a Slate Grey color palette
• Two 8 ft (2.4 m) Redi-Rock Freestanding Columns, about 1.5 ft (0.45 m) of block embedded in the soil
• Two Redi-Rock Freestanding wall sections constructed with 3-sided freestanding blocks and column blocks
• Integrated plantings, softscapes, and landscape lightin

“We did a lot of evaluations initially with different products. Once I got with Andrew and Christian from Piedmont, they sent us some ideas from previous builds, and their ideas aligned with our vision for a welcoming, warm space. More than a successful installation, projects like Truth in Nature’s new entryway demonstrate how thoughtful landscape design, strong partnerships, and enduring precast solutions can create positive change and lasting focal points. FiveTraks, Take it Outside, and Maxwell Landscape Construction are also behind the No Longer Bound prayer and vegetable garden project completed in 2025, where Peidmont Precast gifted Grand Ledge wall blocks to complete phase one of the project.
