Crafted Through Collaboration: Solutions Developed With Producers
Avg. Read Time: ±3 mins, 48 sec
At Rosetta Hardscapes, innovation doesn’t happen in isolation. Many of the brand’s most successful outdoor living solutions were inspired by conversations between our team and the producer-partners who manufacture, sell, and support Rosetta products every day.
The Base Course
Short on time? Here are this article’s key takeaways…
Producer partnerships drive innovation. Many Rosetta solutions began as ideas from licensed manufacturers responding to real customer and market needs.
Real-world feedback leads to better products. Collaboration has shaped solutions like Heartwood Wall, Bordo, Grand Ledge, and Traverse Flagstone.
Innovation doesn't stop after launch. Producer insights continue to refine and improve existing products based on installation experience and evolving trends.
Working together benefits everyone. Contractors, homeowners, designers, and producers all gain from products developed through continuous collaboration and shared expertise.
Rosetta manufacturers are often the most closely connected to distributors, contractors, designers, and homeowners, so they bring invaluable insight into changing market preferences, installation challenges, and opportunities for improvement. These conversations help Rosetta develop solutions that aren’t just visually distinctive but also practical, manufacturable, and aligned with real-world demand.
From natural-looking edging to expanded wall systems and modern paving options, these products of a true partnership demonstrate the power of collaboration between Rosetta and its licensed producer network. Read the stories of four Rosetta solutions that got their start when a manufacturer wondered, “What if?”
Heartwood Wall: A Love Story

Collaboration is not just about identifying opportunities; it’s about combining expertise to create better solutions.
Rosetta’s Heartwood Wall was developed through collaboration with Steinbech, Manitoba, producer Barkman Concrete, to complement their existing timber-textured concrete products. Offered by Barkman as Bridgewood Wall, the goal was to create a wall system that mimics the appearance of natural wood while providing the durability and consistency of wet cast concrete. The warm texture brings outdoor spaces to life with garden walls, planter boxes, fire features, home signage, window wells, and more.
Through this partnership, Rosetta and Barkman developed a product that expands design possibilities for contractors and homeowners while helping producers offer a distinctive solution in their markets. Heartwood Wall is now produced by Rosetta manufacturers across North America and Europe.

The strongest product ideas often begin with a simple question: How can we better serve the market?
Rosetta producers help answer that question by identifying opportunities based on what they see every day. Their feedback creates a direct connection between customer needs and product development, often resulting in solutions tailored to regional demand.
Bordo: Edging Toward Opportunity

After observing strong demand for dry cast "bullet edgers" and natural stone edging in their market, King's Material Inc. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, recognized an opportunity to offer customers a premium alternative with a more natural appearance.
The result was Bordo, a producer-developed landscape edging solution that delivers the rich character of natural stone with the consistency, workability, and durability of wet cast concrete. Bordo demonstrates how close collaboration between Rosetta and its producers can lead to products that address unique regional needs while helping producers differentiate themselves in their local markets.

Each Rosetta Hardscapes solution has moved through an exhaustive research, development, and testing effort before it’s made available for production. But innovation never sleeps at Rosetta, and solutions occasionally need improvements after they’re launched.
Grand Ledge: Great Gets Better

Grand Ledge is one of the Rosetta network’s most popular wall solutions. Its larger format, snapped limestone texture, and efficient installation made it a favorite among producers, installers, and homeowners rapidly upon its 2021 release. Grand Ledge also serves as a strong example of how Rosetta responds to producer feedback.
The initial concept was developed by Rosetta producer High Format, located in Charlevoix, Michigan. Rosetta worked closely with the High Format team to bring the system to life. After launch, early producers identified an opportunity to expand the product offering. While the original freestanding units worked well as corner and cap pieces, producers saw a need for additional units with more consistent widths for certain applications. Rosetta’s product development team quickly responded by creating the E and F freestanding units, improving installation flexibility, and creating a more complete system.
Successful products don’t rest on their laurels. They continue to evolve through collaboration with the people using them.

Landscape design is constantly evolving, and with this evolution comes the need for new hardscape materials. Producer-partner feedback helps the Rosetta Hardscapes team better understand where the market is heading. Rosetta licensees provide invaluable perspective on regional trends and customer expectations, helping guide future product development.
Traverse Flagstone: A Blend of Both Worlds
As outdoor living designs shifted toward larger-scale, contemporary formats, several Rosetta manufacturers suggested a patio product that better aligned with those emerging preferences. Traverse Flagstone was developed to offer a more modern take on traditional flagstone slabs like Rosetta’s Grand Flagstone. Blending classic and contemporary styles, Traverse Flagstone combines the natural clefted texture of traditional irregular flagstone with crisp, angled shapes for a beautiful mosaic-like surface.
Traverse Flagstone is currently being trialed in select North American markets and has been extremely well received by homeowners and contractors alike.

These solutions represent more than simple enhancements to the Rosetta portfolio. They show the strength of a network built around collaboration. Rosetta producers are not simply licensed manufacturers. They’re true partners who power the brand's future. Through ongoing collaboration, producers help identify emerging market opportunities, provide real-world feedback, improve existing solutions, and strongly influence future product development. And Rosetta Hardscapes wouldn’t have it any other way.
Together, Rosetta and its producers continue creating products that help contractors build better projects, inspire homeowners to bring their visions to life, and help manufacturers grow their businesses.
